The story of Francisco continues in this sequel to The Circuit. Francisco and his family were forced to leave California and return to Mexico. After getting their paperwork in order, Francisco and his older brother, Roberto, return to California to support their family. They work hard at a variety of jobs - as janitors, cleaners, and field workers. Eventually the family is reunited, but they continue to have to work hard to survive. There is never enough money for extras. Francisco enters high school and realizes that there is a possibility that he could be the first one in his family to attend college. He sets his sights on that goal and doesn't look back.
