Where She Went continues the story of Adam and Mia, which began in If I Stay.  It's been 3 years since Mia woke up from the coma she was in as a result of an automobile accident that killed her entire family.  Adam promised that if she came back to him, he would let her go if she needed to move on.  So Mia walked out of his life one day and never looked back.  Until, a chance meeting in New York City reopens the possibility that there could be a happily ever after for Adam and Mia.
