Tin and his family live a simple, quiet life in the jungle of Vietnam. Tin wants nothing more than to live at peace in his village and become an elephant trainer. His favorite is Lady, a quiet and gently beast who seems to understand and respect him. The American soldiers that Tin knew most of his life are gone, but the war is not over. Rumors begin to reach the village, that their village may not be safe. Tin and his family make plans to flee to the jungle if needed. Tin wonders what will become of his simple life with the elephants, his family, and the village he loves.
